What this site stores, and why
Everything this site keeps about you is listed on this page, with the reason for each thing. The list is short on purpose.
When you just visit
Nothing about you is saved. There are no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no trackers.
The fonts, pictures and scripts all come from this site itself, so your browser doesn't contact any other company to show you these pages.
When you watch a video on one of our pages
Each video page shows a picture of its video. The player itself is loaded from YouTube only when you press play, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. From that moment YouTube's terms and Google's privacy policy apply to the player.
When you sign up for emails
We save:
- Your email addressTo send you what you asked for: news about new videos and early access to the Academy.
- When you signed up, and when you confirmedAs a record that you asked to be on the list.
- When we last sent you the confirmation emailSo the form can't be used to fill your inbox, and to know when the 7 days below are over.
- A random codeIt is the secret part of the confirm and unsubscribe links in your emails, so only someone who can read your email can use them.
You are only on the list once you confirm through the link we email you. If you don't confirm within 7 days, we delete your address.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. When you use it we delete your address, and everything else in this list, straight away.
The emails are delivered by Resend (resend.com). To deliver an email, Resend receives your address and the email itself.
When you create an account
We save:
- Your email addressIt is what you log in with.
- Your password, scrambledThe password itself is never saved. What we save is the result of a one-way calculation (scrypt): the site can check your password with it, but it can't be turned back into your password.
- When you created the accountAs a basic record that goes with the account.
- The My Path steps you checked off, and whenTo show your progress when you come back.
An account and the email list are two separate things. Creating an account doesn't put you on the list, and we don't send emails to account holders.
When you log in
Logging in is the only thing that puts a cookie in your browser:
- One cookie, named aa_sessionIt holds a random code that tells the site which login is yours. It lasts 30 days from your last visit.
- A login record on the serverIt connects that code to your account until the 30 days are over. Logging out deletes it.
When you play Skyhold
Skyhold is open to everyone on the email list. Confirming your address, or using the link in a "play" email, puts one more cookie in your browser:
- One cookie, named aa_passIt holds your number on the list and the day the pass ends, signed so it can't be forged. It lasts a year. It is also sent to the game's address (tdgame.amplifiedarchitect.com), which is how the game knows to let you in.
The game itself saves nothing about you on our server. Unsubscribing ends the pass.
Keeping the forms from being abused
The signup, login and create-account forms count how often they are used from your internet address (your IP address). That slows down password guessing and spam.
The count stays in the server's memory for an hour at most. It is not saved in the database.
What we don't do
We don't sell anything on this page, and we don't pass it to anyone except Resend, which only delivers the emails. We don't show ads, and we don't follow you around the web.
Everything listed here is kept in one database on the server that runs this site.
A copy of that database is made every night and kept for 14 days. Something we delete for you can stay in those copies until they are 14 days old.
Our publishing tool
We publish our own videos to our own YouTube channel with an internal tool that uses YouTube API Services. Only we use it, with our own account. It does not collect, store or share anyone else's data. YouTube's Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms) and Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) apply to it.
Other sites we link to
The videos open on YouTube, which has its own rules about what it stores. This page covers this site and Skyhold.
Questions, or want something deleted?
Unsubscribing deletes your address by itself. For anything else, such as deleting an account, leave a comment on any video of our YouTube channel and we will take it from there.
